The Cricket Blog on Sky Sports

Miles Reucroft was on Sky Sports Radio being interviewed by Good Morning Sports Fans presenter, Jamie Fletcher about his views on the Kevin Pieteresen affair, on behalf of The Cricket Blog. As you’ve probably gathered via Twitter posts and previous blogs, Miles is not happy with the axing of KP or the way in which it has been handled. He took his frustration to the airwaves!

Do you agree with Miles? Do you think the ECB has got this right? Has this been handled correctly or has it become a more serious issue than the dropping of one player? Have your say below, or join the debate on Twitter.

  1. Does this cut out early?
I share many of Miles’s concerns about the direction England are heading in, though there’s quite a lot of speculation and not many facts (sure, Cook should be able to take some criticism, but might it have become unreasonable?). One fact that doesn’t seem to have been adequately recognised though is that Ashley Giles was a member of the committee who unanimously decided to drop Pietersen, so it’s hard to see where the idea that he can’t have wanted him out by the T20 world cup comes from.

  2. Hi Matthew, thanks for pointing that out. Audioboo only allows for three minutes, which I didn’t realise! I’ve posted a link to it on Soundcloud. RE: Giles, his comments shortly before KP’s sacking weren’t the comments of a man who wanted shot of him. I don’t believe that everyone at the ECB agreed with this decision. Majority rule, though, I guess… As regards the rest, it is indeed just speculation. Until the ECB comes out and says, ‘here, this is a list of Kevin’s discrepancies,’ we shall never know. So speculation is all we have to go on!
